Not terribly impressed with the structure or quality here, but with enough adaptation it's usable. To be fair, it's designed for a younger student than I'm working with, and I'm taking that into account, but the structure could have been designed more clearly and with more ease of use. The topical headings used for D'Aulaire's Greek Myths are misleading (though the page numbers at least are accurate), and the same goes for Famous Men of Rome. Basically, don't trust anything that looks like a chapter title; it may or may not be one. Go by page numbers exclusively if possible, and do your best guesswork apart from that.The coverage of the material is quite heavily slanted toward the Famous Men of Rome over the Bible or D'Aulaire's Greek Myths. I was expecting much more even-handed treatment, but the Bible and D'Aulaire's almost feel like afterthoughts; they're hardly incorporated into the lessons at all, except occasionally in their "Honors Work" sections. It really feels more like Roman mytho-historical biography course with a cursory nod toward Judeo-Christian and Greek mythologies.
Also the Student Guide doesn't have the reading schedule. That's ridiculous. Overall, I'm keeping this and using it because I got a decent deal on it (and because I have enough background in these subjects to remedy the course's deficiencies without much effort on my part) but I probably wouldn't recommend Introduction to Classical Studies in general.
